Sleep is probably thee most important factor to your health after your mindset and good nutrition / activity. You can eat the most perfect diet, do perfect yoga, but have a bad night of sleep and feel horrible all day. Certain foods / substances in food can disrupt your sleep. Excessive alcohol or even small amounts of caffeine on the other end of the spectrum can both ruin a good nights rest. So again- sleep is vital to our health so if we get Into the habit of not getting good sleep daily, we can build up a sleep debt. One trick I teach my clients to tell if you have a sleep debt- is one day if you get time- lay down in the middle of the day and if you fall asleep- guess what- you needed it! When I first started my holistic rehab after draining myself completely (& building a very big sleep debt) I used to fall asleep every single time I did yoga. Eventually I not only stopped falling asleep but I began to get energized instead signaling my body was fully recovered! Sleep debt can be repaid to a certain degree so make sure if you’re tired- catch up!
